I was born and raised in Oldham, an old cotton town in the North West Latitudes of England. Not exactly affiliated with the ocean but nestled on a hilltop location over-looking the Pennines and Greater Manchester. This was enough to instigate a desire to immerse myself in art.
During the past 10 years I've improved my skills, vision and style. I'm pretty much where I want to be as a contemporary impressionist but my ambition is simple - I want to be 'world class' at what I do.
I can only draw and paint what I see before me. The world is too fascinating for me to ignore and being born into a location where the bright skies are never guaranteed, I have to explore every opportunity, if that means traveling to a foreign land or simply catching the shape of a pretty face, it is my duty to document that. Art is my day long obsession, joy and torment.
My work mainly revolves around landscape and people. I'm fascinated with the ocean and especially southern California, which to me is the 'promised land'. After returning from a road trip a few years back, I've felt the need to document it on canvas.
I have sold art in Australia, UK, North America, Europe and South Africa.
My latest exhibit is a collection of 21 oils and is my interpretation of the beach culture of California.
