Some of John's fondest memories are times spent at the beach. Laguna and Haleiwa as an "Army brat", Santa Cruz where he learned to surf summers during high school and Malibu as a student at Art Center. Naval Aviation and an advertising career in New York and Seattle left the beaches behind until John and his kids discovered Westport in Washington State. He took up surfing again and started painting in earnest. With visits to one daughter in Oahu and a son in LA there are occasions for sunny surf and new inspiration. John works in oils, gouache and acrylics.
John sells paintings in surf shops in Seattle and the Aloha Gallery in Kauai and the Beech Street Gallery on Long Island.
