Quiksilver has put together a Kelly Slater infographic, looking at other athletes who have made sporting history and measuring their accolades to Slater's. Now, you can decide for yourself if Kelly truly is "The Greatest Athlete of All Time."
Kelly is the youngest, and oldest, surfer to win a world titleāand continues to break his own record of the oldest to win an ASP World Tour event, over and over and over...
Slater has won World Championships on six continents. He has won nearly 80% of his events over the course of his 20-year career, including 49 elite tour wins.
Last year, Sports Illustrated magazine suggested that Slater may be "the most dominant athlete of his time." Kelly Slater, the infographic, explores this theme, and more.

While we agree that Kelly Slater is certainly one of the greatest athletes of all time, and arguably the best given the unpredictable playing field (i.e. the ocean) that surfing offers over most other sports... We will contest that Quiksilver have taken a few liberties with the stats for comparison here...
Firstly Tiger Woods (Golf): The 10 PGA Player of the Year Awards isn't particularly comparable to Kelly's 11 World Titles... Given that one is a Title (by points/wins totals) and the other is an Award (presumably by vote). But for the record, Tiger has won 14 Golf Majors.
Secondly, they're missing Roger Federer (Tennis) entirely, who (as far as we're aware) has won 16 Grand Slam Titles and 74 Singles Titles. Again not so much a yearly accomplishment, by their scale... But just to say, the scale does deliberately tip the balance in Kelly's favor...
Thirdly, Michael Jordan (Basketball) isn't on there either!? We don't know any stats for him, but surely...?
Lance Armstrong (Cycling)...?
We're not breaking balls here. But Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, Michael Jordan and Lance Armstrong are serious contenders...
But, King Kelly is still the best in our eyes!
